Straight From the Source: Where MediHerb Mushrooms Come From
The MediHerb Mushroom range includes synergistic formulas with a specific ratio of Ganoderma lucidum (Reishi), Lentinula edodes (Shiitake), Grifola frondosa (Maitake), Trametes versicolor (Turkey Tail), and/or Hericium erinaceus (Lion’s Mane) mushrooms of the highest quality.
Cultivated mushrooms can be grown in a variety of media, including starches such as brown rice powder, or grain-free media such as natural wood logs. MediHerb Mushroom range products use hand-harvested, certified organic mushrooms grown on natural materials or wildcrafted deep in the mountains of China.
When the entire mushroom is harvested for processing, the hyphae and mycelium (the below-ground network) are often not separated from the growth medium, which may result in residual substrate being included in the final product. Traditional medicine typically uses only the fruiting bodies of mushrooms (the part visible above ground). MediHerb Mushroom range products contain only the fruiting body and are free from growth medium.

High levels of alpha-glucans are not naturally found in mushrooms, and likely indicates the presence of non-mushroom glucans, such as those found in growth mediums (e.g. brown rice or potato starch) and/or excipients (e.g. maltodextrin). The presence of glucans from extraneous sources changes the overall glucan profile and compromises the purity of the product. MediHerb Mushroom range products are high in immunologically active beta-glucans and low in alpha-glucans (i.e. high beta-glucan to alpha‑glucan ratio). No growth medium is present, providing confidence in the level of mushroom beta-glucans and redefining medicinal mushroom quality available in the practitioner market.
